Handling Capacity

Ferrous

The Mossend depot processes 90% of material through our Lindemann 800t Shear/ Baling Press backed up by four hydraulic cranes.

The Ayr depot also handles large tonnages of scrap which are processed through a Copex 1000t Shear/Baling Press, most of which is exported through Ayr harbour in vessels up to 3500 tonnes capacity.

Dundee handles material generated from local business and waste processors.

Kilmarnock operates as a transit depot from which the scrap is transferred to Ayr for processing and shipment.

Non-Ferrous

We are currently recycling over 2500 tonnes per annum, processing and shipping various grades of higher value metals (e.g. Aluminium, copper and brasses), sorted to foundry specifications.

End of life vehicles

At present three of our four sites, Bellshill, Kilmarnock and Dundee are authorised treatment facilities, licensed and regulated by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for the environmentally sound treatment of end of life vehicles.

The company inspects all vehicles on receipt and identification checks are made before they are de-registered. The battery, wheels and any hazardous parts are removed for reuse, recycling or disposal.

Purpose built de-pollution rigs allow all the operating fluids to be extracted. Specialist suction equipment is use to depolluted the vehicles of oils, brake fluid, antifreeze and other fluids in a controlled area.

All fluids are then stored in double-skinned tanks to contain them safely and avoid any leakage, contaminated fuels are then taken for further recycling.
